\nSeats determine how many members can generate in your workspace. Each Editor and Admin role uses one seat. The Viewer and Billing Admin roles don't use a seat, and are only available on Enterprise plans. Seats only apply to the Team and Enterprise plans — individual plans (Free, Standard, Pro and Max) don't have them. This article covers how seats work on the Team plan and on Enterprise plans that include them.
The Team plan is billed per seat, and every member — Admin or Editor — uses one. Inviting a member adds a seat to your plan if you don't have one open. Removing a member frees their seat up for someone else without changing your billing.
Inviting someone when all of your seats are taken adds a new seat to your subscription. The seat's full 6,900 monthly credits go straight into your shared pool, and your renewal date stays the same.
What you pay depends on your billing cycle:
Removing a member doesn't remove their seat — the seat stays on your plan for you to reuse. If you no longer need the seat, you can remove it from your Workspace Settings:
Removing a seat takes effect at the end of your billing period. After that, your monthly credit pool shrinks by 6,900 credits for each seat you removed. If that leaves more members than seats, the newest members become Viewers automatically. Team plans include a minimum of 2 seats.
Team gives a group of two to nine a shared workspace with pooled credits, and it's self-serve: you can upgrade anytime from your Plans & Billing page.
Enterprise is built for organizations bringing Runway into production across larger teams. It's the right fit when:

On Enterprise plans, how seats work is set by your contract. Admins can check which structure your organization uses from the header of your Organization settings:
If the header shows Members, your organization has unlimited seats, and members in any role can be added at no additional cost.
If the header shows Paid seats used, your organization has a set number of Editor and Admin roles you can assign across your workspaces.

\nFor Enterprise organization with paid seats, you won't be charged again for seats you've already purchased. If you add members beyond your purchased seats, you'll be charged a prorated amount for the days remaining in your billing cycle. You'll see a reminder in the app when adding members:

If your organization uses paid seats and has multiple workspaces in an Organization space, you can move seats between them:
\n Team plans support 2 to 9 seats. Your seat count includes invites that\n haven't been accepted yet.\n
\n\n Starting from your next billing period, your pool is 6,900 credits smaller\n for each seat you removed, and up to one month of unused credits still\n rolls over.\n
\n\n The same as any seat: $69 on a monthly plan, or the prorated amount left\n on your yearly plan. If you add it close to your renewal, you'll see\n the\n seat renew shortly after — that's a separate charge for the next period,\n with its own 6,900 credits. Since up to a month of unused credits roll\n over, you still get the full value of your larger credit pool.\n

If your composites and grades are part of an ACES-configured pipeline, Ruby can deliver conversions as scene-referred ACEScg OpenEXR sequences. Choose the ACEScg 1.3 or ACEScg 2.0 output format to match your pipeline's ACES version, and the resulting ZIP of half-float EXR frames drops into tools without an extra transform step.
ACEScg outputs are available anywhere Ruby runs: Sessions, Workflows and Runway Dev. Gen-4.5's native HDR outputs can also be delivered in ACEScg.
HDR looks stunning when it's displayed on hardware that can render it properly, but many external monitors and standard displays cannot show HDR content accurately.
If your screen can't render HDR, Runway will show a warning in the app. You may still generate and download the file, but the preview won't reflect the true HDR quality.

For the highest fidelity, start with the cleanest SDR source available. Higher-quality inputs produce more accurate HDR conversions with better color and depth.
\n Yes. Select Ruby from the model picker in Tool mode and upload any SDR video,\n whether it came from another generative model, a camera or your existing\n library.\n
\n\n Both deliver 16-bit half-float EXR sequences. The ACEScg formats are\n scene-referred in the ACEScg working space, built for ACES-configured\n compositing and grading pipelines. The Linear BT.2020 format is\n display-referred linear light in the BT.2020 gamut. If your pipeline runs\n an ACES configuration, choose the ACEScg version that matches it; otherwise,\n Linear BT.2020 is the right starting point for compositing.\n
\nSeedream 5.0 Layers is a third-party image generation model from Bytedance, available on Runway. It splits a single image into separate, editable layers with state-of-the-art separation — for example, you can take a product photo and isolate the subject, background, and other elements into individual layers you can toggle, reposition, or transform independently.

Seedream 5.0 Layers is available in Tool mode. To access it:
Upload the image you want to split into layers. Once uploaded, you can generate right away without a prompt, or add one for more control.
The model automatically identifies and separates the contents of an image into distinct transparent layers, so prompts are optional. Add one when you need finer control over how layers are split, or when you're isolating smaller elements within the image.
When you do add a prompt, describe the specific elements you want separated so the model knows what to isolate onto its own layer.
Once the generation processes, the layer editor will appear in your session:
The editor lets you to make adjustments to each layer without leaving Runway. If you'd rather work in external editing software, see the Export layers dropdown in the Downloading Edits or Exporting Layers section.
Only the separation process (clicking Generate) uses credits, so you can download your edits as many times as you like at no extra cost.
Click an element directly in the image editor, or choose it from the layer list on the right side of the screen.

The model picker lives at the bottom of the generation panel. Eleven v3 is available in Tool mode and Workflows.
Eleven v3 performs your script rather than simply reading it. The model picks up emotion and pacing directly from your writing, so punctuation, phrasing, and formatting all shape the delivery. You can write in any of 70+ supported languages.
Add inline tags like [whispers], [laughs], or [shouts] directly in your script to shape performance and emotion. Place each tag immediately before the text it should affect — the script box highlights recognized tags as you type.
Note: Audio tags apply in English only, and your script must include spoken words — a script containing only audio tags will not generate.
Choose a voice for your generation. Eleven v3 supports the same voice IDs as Eleven Multilingual v2, and you can also select any custom voice available in your library. To create a new custom voice, use Custom — the Workflows node supports selecting existing voices only.

Seedance 2.5 is available in Tools, Workflows and Agent. How you reach the model depends on where you're working.
This guide walks through Seedance 2.5 in Tools mode, where every control is exposed directly. The model itself is the same across all three surfaces, though the inputs and settings available to you differ by surface.
In Tools, Seedance 2.5 offers four creation modes:
Edit and Extend both take a source video and match its aspect ratio, so neither mode has an aspect ratio control. Edit also matches the length of the input video and has no duration control.
Your prompt will vary depending on your creation mode and what you're trying to accomplish. In any creation mode, Runway recommends using positive, unambiguous and outcome-focused language.
A single generation accepts up to 50 references: 30 images, 10 videos of up to 30 seconds each and 10 audio clips. In Keyframe mode you can set a first and last frame.
Reference each input directly in your prompt and describe the role it should play.
In Edit and Extend modes you can draw directly on a frame of your source video instead of describing a change in words. The drawing becomes an image reference attached to that moment in the video.
Your annotation is added to the prompt as @Image 1 at ss:SS, pointing the edit at that frame. Sketches work best in Edit mode.
In Extend mode, your prompt sets the direction of the extension and describes the new footage:
Name the direction in your prompt, then describe what you want to happen. To extend forwards, describe what happens after your video ends. To extend backwards, describe what happens before it begins, for example \"before video 1 starts, show the dancer walking onto the stage.\"
Each extension is a standalone clip: the output contains only the new footage at your set Duration, and your original video is unchanged. Extending a 30-second video by 5 seconds returns a 5-second clip that picks up where the original left off. To make one continuous video, assemble the original and the extension in Studio.

\nExpand Ratio lets you change the aspect ratio of any video in Edit Studio without cropping your original footage or leaving empty space at the edges. Powered by Aleph 2.0, the new frame is filled in seamlessly so the result looks like it was always intended for the new format.
Upload your footage in Edit Studio, choose the new format, describe what should appear in the extended areas of the frame, and Aleph 2.0 generates the rest of the scene.

Submit the keyframe edit to preview the adjustment as an image. All keyframe edits appear in the Prompt versions tray menu on the right-hand side. When hovering over a version, three action icons appear:
For best results, we recommend confirming that the composition is largely unchanged with the Preview comparison window before generating the video.
Click Generate Video once you're satisfied with the preview and have the desired keyframe version selected. Aleph 2.0 will use this keyframe to guide the generation without the need for a prompt.
Your generation will appear in the video versions feed as it processes. While it generates, you can continue editing frames and queuing up new variations, or upload a new video to edit or expand separate shots in tandem.

For many of our heaviest users — especially the ones shipping client work or producing on a deadline — speed is of the utmost importance. The Max plan ensures that users get the speed they need with predictable pricing.
This article covers what to expect if you have an Unlimited plan and answers questions about the transition.
With the addition of the Max plan, we are phasing out the Unlimited plan.
While Unlimited provided a great way to explore different creative paths, its relaxed speeds often led to queuing. In order to offer the fastest possible generation times for all our plans, we’re moving to a clearer credit-based structure. We’ve designed Max with a monthly credit allowance and the ability to roll over a month of unused credits so users have more flexibility in how they plan their work while getting the speed they need.
Eligible legacy Unlimited plans remain unchanged through November 30th, 2026. We've emailed every Unlimited subscriber directly with the full details.
On November 30th, Unlimited subscribers move to Max. Monthly subscribers move automatically at the same $95/month price.
On November 30th, your Unlimited plan will automatically switch to the Max plan at the same monthly price, or you can choose to cancel your plan.
In November, you can either cancel for a refund of your remaining months of your annual Unlimited plan, or accept a credits bonus to migrate to the max plan.
\n These plans are different, and the Max plan is replacing Unlimited. Max\n offers\n 9,500 monthly\n credits for faster, high-volume generation — plus the ability to roll\n over\n a month\n of unused credits. Single edit generates an image based on a selected keyframe still from your video. Use this mode when you want precise control over how the edit looks before it's applied across the video.
\n Choose a keyframe that clearly shows the target of your edits.\n
\n\n For example, you may select the widest shot (the frame that shows the\n most\n of the environment) in your video for something like a scene or background\n change.\n
\n\n For a more detailed change, like subject eye color, you would opt for\n a\n frame that closely shows the eye.\n
\n\n Keyframes are optimized to maintain the composition. Short prompts that\n clearly\n describe the change are ideal in most cases.\n
\n\n In addition to your text prompt, you may also include a reference image\n to\n guide characters, products, objects, or styles.\n
\n\n If desired, click the model name dropdown to change the model in use\n to create the keyframe edit.\n
\n\n All keyframe edits appear in the Prompt versions tray\n menu on\n the right-hand side. When hovering over a version, three action icons\n appear:\n
\n\n Extra motion is a text prompt that accompanies keyframe edits. It's\n useful\n when your edit requires specific motion that wouldn't happen on its own\n or\n doesn't exist in the original video.\n
\n\n You won't need it in most cases — Aleph 2.0 automatically animates adjustments\n based on your keyframe edit alone. \n
\n\n It comes down to specificity: in the example below, we added in a prompt\n for Extra motion\n to\n make fire spread through the background, since there's no fire in the\n keyframe\n edit or original video.\n

\nBy default, Edit Studio applies your edit to the entire video. You can drag the range handles on either end of the timeline to apply your edit to a specific portion of your video.

Your generation will appear in the video versions feed as it processes. While it generates, you can continue editing frames and queuing up new variations, or upload a new video to begin editing in tandem.
Once the generation is complete, select the associated thumbnail to review your results.
The top thumbnail is always your original video — click it anytime to start fresh from the source. The thumbnails below it are your iterations. Select any version to continue building on it with Edit Studio.
When you upload a new video in the same Edit Studio session, frame edits and outputs will be organized by video.
On Max, Unlimited (Legacy) and Enterprise plans, you can choose ProRes or a PNG sequence as the output format of your video. The format is selected at generation time and adds 5 credits per second to the base generation cost. See Generating Videos in ProRes and PNG Sequence Formats for details.

\nRunway Agent is a chat-based collaborative agent that analyzes what you give it — a product, image, an ad campaign, or idea — and uses what it learns to create what comes next. Instead of generating a single asset in isolation, Agent can plan, produce, and scale entire creative projects while picking the best model for the job at each step.
A built-in timeline editor lets you cut, reorder, and upload additional assets when generating or otherwise working with video content.
This article walks you through the basics of creating with Agent, with examples to show what's possible.
Agent has a wide range of functionality across planning, generating, analyzing, and editing, and new capabilities are added regularly.
Agent can help plan your project, provide suggestions, and will communicate its intent for each generation step. However, generating media is inherently variable — Agent's plan describes its intent, not a guaranteed outcome. Like all AI models, Agent can make mistakes at times, and results may require iteration to get right.
You can open Agent from several places across Runway:
If you've used Agent before, you'll land on your most recent session. To start a new one, double-click Agent in the left sidebar, or click the session name in the top left and select Start New Chat.
Before or during an Agent chat, you can configure whether Agent waits for your approval before generating and what it optimizes for when selecting models. These settings are available in the bottom right corner of the prompt panel.
Once you've configure your preferences, click Set as default for new sessions to apply your choice to all new sessions going forward.

Agent weighs this preference when selecting a model, but will always choose a model capable of fulfilling your request — if only one model can do the job, Agent uses it regardless of your preference setting.
This defaults to Quality on desktop and Speed on mobile.
The prompt sets the creative foundation of what Agent generates.
Think of your prompt as a simple description of where to start. A single, simple sentence works well in most cases, as Agent will ask for more details as needed to ensure alignment before generating.
After entering your prompt and optional assets, send the first message to have Agent start analyzing the request.
You can also type / in the message box to trigger an Agent Skill — a ready-made workflow like Ad Campaign or Mood Board that guides Agent through a common creative task. See Using agent skills to learn more.

Everything Agent generates during a session is collected in the Generations tab, where you can view it all as a grid — useful for referencing earlier generations or navigating long sessions. You can also filter the grid by asset type or favorited status to quickly find what you're looking for.
If Agent creates a multi-shot video, it will automatically combine your clips and audio in the Final Cut tab — where Agent assembles your videos, and where you can also manually trim, split, and arrange generated or uploaded media yourself.
For minor adjustments, use the tools directly in Final Cut. Alternatively, you can ask Agent to make edits for you through chat.
\n Split separates media files into two. To use Split to\n separate\n a single media clip:\n

This article is for Enterprise accounts with SSO enabled that need to update user email addresses to a new domain (e.g., migrating from @oldcompany.com to @newcompany.com).
Email changes are not available to Enterprise users directly, so these updates must be completed by the Runway Support team.
If the new domain requires a different SSO configuration than your current one, you'll need to submit a new configuration before the migration. For setup instructions, see Configuring Enterprise SSO.
If the new domain uses the same SSO configuration, our Support team can add it on your end — just note this in your request.

While we've integrated these models into our platform for seamless use, please note that certain aspects are managed by the third-party providers. For issues related to content flags, uptime, or model-specific behaviors, you may need to consult the third party's documentation.
Runway offers a 25% discount (previously 20%) on subscription plans for verified students and educators. This discount is designed to support learning and teaching in creative fields by making Runway's tools more accessible to academic communities.
Verification is processed through our third-party partner, SheerID, who specializes in secure identity verification for academic institutions worldwide.
To qualify for a student or educator discount, you must meet the following criteria:
Students: Currently enrolled in any accredited college or graduate program. High school students and younger are not eligible at this time.
Educators: Currently employed as faculty or staff at any accredited college or graduate institution.
Geographic availability: Discount applications are currently accepted from anywhere except China.
Account type: You must apply using a personal Runway account. Discount applications cannot be submitted through workspace accounts.
The application process is quick and straightforward, completed entirely through SheerID's secure verification portal. You'll need to provide basic information about your academic institution and current status.
Most verifications are processed instantly. In some cases, SheerID may request additional documentation to confirm your status. This will be handled directly through email from SheerID, not from Runway.
