Creating a depth map of a clip can require several different tools or even complicated frame-by-frame adjustments. Let our Extract Depth tool generate a clip's depth map for you in one easy process!

To get started, select Edit videos and then Extract Depth on the main left dashboard sidebar.

1. Import video clip

First, you'll need to upload your clip. You can drag and drop your clips directly from your computer into Runway, or sort through the Assets section on the left side of the editor if you've already uploaded them.

2. Process

Once your clip is uploaded to the tool, just click Process to generate a depth map.

3. Preview

Within seconds, a depth map preview will appear on-screen. Hit the play icon to view how the depth map changes throughout the video.

4. Compare to original

To make sure all of the essential depth features were captured by the tool, click Toggle to original to switch back to the initial clip you uploaded. To see the depth map again, just click Toggle to processed.

💡 Didn't get results that were are dramatic as you were hoping? Try increasing the clip's contrast, and re-uploading.

5. Export

Once satisfied with your depth map, select Export to process and save the finished clip!
