Extract Depth

Note: While the Extract Depth tool is available to users on a Pro plan or higher, the video editor is no longer being actively maintained as our development team is focused on advancing our generative workflows and core product features. We recommend using a local video editor for larger projects requiring more than quick edits.

Creating a depth map of a clip can require several different tools or complicated frame-by-frame adjustments. Extract Depth simplifies this process.

  1. To get started, open a Video Editor Project and add a clip to the timeline
  2. Select the clip, and choose the Export Clip option in the right-hand side bar
  3. Choose Depth Map from the Export as dropdown
  4. Review the other export settings, and select Export Depth

Your Depth Map export will begin processing and will be available in your Private assets folder. Preview the asset to view how the depth map changes throughout the video.

If your depth map isn't as dramatic as you hoped, try increasing the contrast of your input video and exporting again.
