How to organize assets

Keeping your generations and creations organized is an essential part of maintaining speed, efficiency, and reliability during a creative project. Runway does a significant amount of asset organization for you automatically, but for more fine-grained file movement and sorting, there are plenty of features to try.

Where are my Assets?

You can find your assets in the Assets section of the lefthand Dashboard menu:

Within this section, you'll see a list of available folders where your files are automatically organized.

Where do generated video assets go?

Every time you generate an asset, it is automatically placed in the All Generations folder on the Assets page.

Where do uploaded assets go?

Any assets you upload (rather than generate) will be placed in your Private folder on the Assets page.

Creating folders

To help keep files (both generated and uploaded) for different projects delineated and clean, you can sort groups of assets into folders. To create a folder, click the New Folder button in the top right corner of the Assets page:

Moving assets between folders

Using right-click:

To move assets into different folders, right-click on the asset you want to move and select Move, then choose the desired destination folder.

To move multiple assets at once, hold CMD (Mac OS) or CTRL (Windows) while selecting multiple assets, then right-click on one of the selected assets, select Move, and choose the desired destination folder.

Using drag and drop:

If you want to move an asset from one folder into a subfolder, simply click and drag the asset to the desired folder.

Note about shared assets: When you share an asset, it is automatically moved to the Shared folder. To bring these assets back to your Private folder, you'll need to unshare them.
