How to share an asset

Introduction

Assets refer to any media stored within your account, including both generated and uploaded content.

Runway offers three primary methods for sharing assets:

  • Asset Share URLs: A unique link that can be shared to collaborators with or without a Runway account
  • Workspace Sharing: Publishes your private asset to a shared folder for other members of a Workspace to access through their Runway account
  • Teamspace Sharing (Enterprise Only)

All assets are private by default, and will only be accessible to others if you intentionally share the content through either aforementioned method.

This guide outlines how to share an asset through both methods, what recipients will see when opening an Asset Share URL, and how to make assets private again.

Sharing an asset

These steps outline how to share an asset though a session. If sharing through your Private assets folder, double-click the media to find the Share icon.

  1. Select the Share (share.png) icon of the associated asset
  2. From here, choose how you'd like to share the asset:
    • Share with workspace — Available to other members in your workspace
    • Anyone with link — Available to anyone with the link
  3. Click Share and copy link to change the permissions and copy the link to your clipboard

Sharing through the Share with workspace method will move the file from your Private assets to your Shared assets.

What details can recipients see about the shared asset?

Sharing this link will allow the recipient to view and download the asset. If the asset was generated on Runway, it will also share generation details such as text, image, and/or video inputs, seed numbers, and more.

Making a shared asset private

To make a shared asset private again:

  1. Locate the asset and click the Share icon (share.png
  2. Change the selection to Make private
  3. Click Done to save the changes

Sharing to a workspace

The assets generated in a workspace are only visible to the creator by default. This helps ensure only the desired assets are shared with the larger workspace.

Assets can be shared with a workspace in two methods:

  • Sharing an individual asset
  • Sharing an entire folder

This section outlines how to share assets through both of these methods, and also outlines how to make them private again.

Sharing Folders with a Workspace

  1. From your workspace, select the Private asset folder in the left-hand navigation bar
  2. Locate the folder you’d like to share, and select the ellipsis icon () to access more options
  3. Select Share with workspace
  4. Select Share to confirm that you’d like to share the asset with the workspace members

Similar to sharing individual assets with a workspace, this will move the folder from Private to Shared assets.

Unsharing from a Workspace

You can unshare an asset to remove it from a workspace. Unsharing an asset will move it from Shared to Private assets:

  1. Locate the file or folder from the Shared section of the Asset folder
  2. Click the ellipsis icon () to access more options
  3. Select Share
  4. Set the dropdown to Make private, and click Next to proceed
  5. Click Yes, proceed to make the asset private again

Once unshared, the asset will move to the top-level folder of your Private assets. Individual assets will not be moved back to the original folder location before it was shared.
