Introduction
Assets refer to any media stored within your account, including both generated and uploaded content.
Runway offers three primary methods for sharing assets:
- Asset Share URLs: A unique link that can be shared to collaborators with or without a Runway account
- Workspace Sharing: Publishes your private asset to a shared folder for other members of a Workspace to access through their Runway account
- Teamspace Sharing (Enterprise Only)
All assets are private by default, and will only be accessible to others if you intentionally share the content through either aforementioned method.
This guide outlines how to share an asset through both methods, what recipients will see when opening an Asset Share URL, and how to make assets private again.
Creating and Sharing an Asset Share URL
An Asset Share URL can be generated in two locations:
- The Assets folder
- Directly through a generation Session
Sharing this link will allow the recipient to view and download the asset. If the asset was generated on Runway, it will also share generation details such as text, image, and/or video inputs, seed numbers, and more.
This section outlines generating an Asset Share URL from either location, and also outlines how to unpublish an asset that’s shared through these methods.
Sharing from the Assets folder
- From your Runway dashboard, select Assets on the left-hand navigation bar
- Locate the asset you wish to share, and double-click it to open the detailed view
- Click the Share icon () from beneath the asset title
- Click Get shareable link to proceed with generating the link
- Click Copy Link to add it to your clipboard
Sharing from a Session
- From your Session, select the See full prompt icon () on the asset you’d like to share
- Click the Share icon () from beneath the asset title
- Click Get shareable link to proceed with generating the link
- Click Copy Link to add it to your clipboard
Unpublishing an Asset Share URL
Assets with active Asset Share URLs can be identified by the Published icon () in the file name. You can deactivate previously generated Asset Share URLs by unpublishing the content.
- From your Assets folder, locate a Published asset and double-click it to open the detailed view
- Click the ellipsis icon () to access more options
- Select Unpublish to deactivate the Asset Share URL
Sharing Assets and Folders with a Workspace
The assets generated in a workspace are only visible to the creator by default. This helps ensure only the desired assets are shared with the larger workspace.
Assets can be shared with a workspace in two methods:
- Sharing an individual asset
- Sharing an entire folder
This section outlines how to share assets through both of these methods, and also outlines how to unshare to make them private again.
Sharing Individual Assets with a Workspace
- From your workspace, select the Assets folder in the left-hand navigation bar
- Locate the asset you’d like to share, and select the ellipsis icon () to access more options
- Select Share with workspace
- Select Move to confirm that you’d like to share the asset with all workspace members
This will move the asset from Private to Shared assets, meaning that you’ll need to access this from the Shared section moving forward:
Sharing Folders with a Workspace
- From your workspace, select the Assets folder in the left-hand navigation bar
- Locate the folder you’d like to share, and select the ellipsis icon () to access more options
- Select Share with workspace
- Select Move to confirm that you’d like to share the asset with all workspace members
Similar to sharing individual assets, this will move the folder from Private to Shared assets.
Unsharing from a Workspace
You can unshare an asset to remove it from a workspace. Unsharing an asset will move it from Shared to Private assets:
- Locate the file or folder from the Shared section of the Asset folder
- Click the ellipsis icon () to access more options
- Select Unshare from workspace
- Select Move to confirm that you’d like to make the asset Private again
Once unshared, the asset will move to the top-level folder of your Private assets. Individual assets will not be moved back to the original folder location before it was shared.
