Introduction
Multi-Shot Video generates a single cohesive video made up of up to 5 connected shots from one text prompt. Describe the scene, sequence, or story you want to tell, and Multi-Shot Video handles the shot planning and transitions — delivering a complete multi-shot video without requiring any editing.
It's built for filmmakers, content creators, and storytellers who want to produce narrative video sequences quickly from a single starting prompt.
Prerequisites
Before using Multi-Shot Video, you'll need:
- A text prompt — a description of the story, scene, or sequence you want to generate
This app requires credits to run and does not support infinite generations in Explore Mode.
Step 1 — Accessing Multi-Shot Video
Multi-Shot Video lives in the Apps section of Runway. You can get there two ways:
- Navigate to Apps in the left sidebar, then use the search bar to find Multi-Shot Video
- Navigate to Apps in the left sidebar, select the Video category, and locate Multi-Shot Video
Select the app to open it.
Step 2 — Adding the inputs
Multi-Shot Video has two modes for building your story: Auto and Custom. Both modes support an optional starting image to anchor the opening shot.
Auto mode (default)
In Auto mode, write a single prompt describing the full narrative or sequence. Multi-Shot Video will interpret your prompt and plan the shot sequence automatically.
Custom mode
Switch to Custom to define each shot manually. Enter a description for each shot in your sequence. Select + Add shot to add additional shots, up to a maximum of 5.
Step 3 — Generating with Multi-Shot Video
Multi-Shot Video runs on Kling Pro 3.0 and outputs 10s videos without audio at 16:9 and 720p by default. You can adjust the aspect ratio, resolution, duration, and audio settings using the controls in the bottom bar before generating.
Once your story prompt is in place, select Generate.
Example outputs
| Mode | Prompt / Shot List | First Shot Image | Output |
|---|---|---|---|
| Auto | fashion ad with dynamic motion and frenetic editing. | ||
| Custom |
Shot 1: light glints off her sunglasses as the camera moves subtly. Shot 2: over the shoulder of her silhouette as the haze thickens. Shot 3: profile angle as she removes her glasses. |

- Scene Builder — If you don't yet have a first frame or want to expand on the shot you created, this app helps design a detailed hero frame first from a reference, then uses it as your first shot image to anchor the look of a new multi-shot video.
