Introduction
Product Shot Video Builder turns a single product photo into a polished, ad-ready product shot video. Upload your product image, choose how you want to position it within the scene, and the app generates a professional product video without a full shoot or editing workflow.
It's built for e-commerce teams, brand managers, and marketers who need to produce video ads quickly from existing product imagery.
Prerequisites
Before using Product Shot Video Builder, you'll need:
- A product image — a clean photo of the product you want to feature
Step 1 — Accessing Product Shot Video Builder
Product Shot Video Builder lives in the Apps section of Runway. You can get there two ways:
- Navigate to Apps in the left sidebar, then use the search bar to find Product Shot Video Builder
- Navigate to Apps in the left sidebar, select the Video category, and locate Product Shot Video Builder
Select the app to open it.
Step 2 — Framing your product
This is the first stage of Product Shot Video Builder, where you upload your product and configure how it will be positioned for the final video. After your image is uploaded, the app analyzes your product and generates tailored options across four positioning categories. For each category, you can pick one of the suggested options or describe your own using the Something else… field.
Product Image
Upload a clean photo of your product using the Upload button, or select Select to pull from your existing assets. The app uses this image as the basis for generating its tailored positioning suggestions.
Color Palette
Choose a palette that complements your product and brand direction. Each option includes a named palette, a short description, and the colour swatches that make it up.
Target audience
Define who the ad is for. Each option describes a segment with details on age range, lifestyle, and interests.
Environment
Choose the setting where your product will appear. Each option describes a scene with notes on the surface, lighting, and surroundings.
Ad concept
Choose the narrative direction for your product shot. Each option describes a specific scene concept (for example, The Pour or Morning Light Rotation) that guides how your product is framed in the final video.
Product Shot Video Builder is optimized for product imagery, so the suggested options are enough to get strong results — you only need to use Something else… when you have a specific direction in mind.
Once your product is positioned across all four categories, select Generate Image to produce the framed still that anchors your video.
Step 3 — Animating your product video
This is the second stage, where you bring your framed product image to life as the final product shot video.
First frame of your video
The framed image generated in Stage 1 appears at the top of this stage. If you'd like to regenerate the frame, select Redo to return to Stage 1 and create a new version before animating.
Motion description (Optional)
Use the prompt field to describe how you want the shot to move — for example, Slow zoom into the shot. This field is optional. Product Shot Video Builder is optimised for product video, so the framed image alone is enough to produce strong results, and a brief motion description is enough when you want to direct the camera or scene movement.
Audio and resolution
Use the controls in the bottom bar to toggle audio on or off and adjust the resolution before generating.
Once your framed image is ready and any optional motion direction is set, select Generate Video to produce the final product shot video. Product Shot Video Builder runs on Kling Standard 3.0 and outputs 10 seconds at 720p by default, with audio off by default.
