Auto refill keeps your credit balance topped up automatically so generations aren't interrupted when your balance runs low. You set a threshold, and when your combined plan and purchased credits fall below it, Runway charges your payment method and adds credits to your account.
Setting up Auto Refill
- Navigate to Plans & Billing and click Manage in the Auto Refill Credits section.
- Select or add a card from the Payment method dropdown.
- Configure the following:
- Amount per recharge — How much to charge each time credits are refilled
- Maximum spend per month — The most you'll be charged for auto refills in a single month
- Refill when credits hit — The credit balance that triggers a refill
- Save your settings.
Auto refill runs only when your balance is at or below the threshold you set. If a generation would drop your balance below that threshold, the refill runs automatically and your generation continues without interruption.
Tracking refill activity
The Auto Refill section in your billing settings shows how much has been used to auto refill in the current period, your monthly spend limit, and which payment method is being billed. You'll also receive an email notification each time a refill succeeds or fails.
FAQ
What happens to a generation if I didn't have enough credits but Auto Refill is configured?
The refill will run automatically without interrupting your generation. You will not need to retry the generation.
Can I configure a refill to the cent?
The refill amount must be in the nearest dollar. Auto refill does not support entering cent values.
Will I receive emails about auto refill?
Yes, both successful and failed auto refills send automated emails to keep you updated.
I'm on an annual plan. Is the maximum spend still on a monthly cadence?
Yes, maximum spend is handled on a monthly basis regardless of your plan type.
Can I configure auto refills on a Free plan?
Free plans are unable to purchase credits, thus a plan is required to configure auto refills.
