Unlimited Mode lets you generate without using credits on supported models and tools. Generations in Unlimited Mode may take longer to start and run fewer at a time; for faster generations and more simultaneous generations, switch to Credits Mode. This mode is currently available on Pro and Max plans.
Switching Between Unlimited Mode and Credits Mode
- Open a generative mode that supports Unlimited Mode
- Select the button in the top right corner of your screen. It will either display your current available credits, or "Unlimited ∞" when Unlimited Mode is on.
- Select the Unlimited or Credits tab to switch modes
The panel lists the models currently available in Unlimited Mode. If you don't see the option to switch, Unlimited Mode isn't available for that model or tool and your generations will use Credits Mode.
Unlimited Mode vs. Credits Mode
- Unlimited Mode — generations don't use credits, but may take longer to start during busy periods, and the number of simultaneous generations is limited
- Credits Mode — generations use credits, start faster and support more simultaneous generations
Both modes create the same quality results. The only difference is speed and how many generations you can run at once.

Unlimited Mode currently supports Gen-4.5 for video generation, Aleph 2.0 for video editing and Upscale Video for video upscaling.
Is Unlimited Mode the same as the Unlimited plan?
Unlimited Mode and the Unlimited plan are different things. Unlimited Mode is a generation mode that lets you create without using credits on supported models, while the Unlimited plan is a legacy subscription tier.
Why don't I see the option to switch to Unlimited Mode?
The Unlimited Mode option only appears in sessions where it's available. If the model or tool you're using isn't supported, Runway uses Credits Mode automatically and the toggle is hidden.
Why did my generation use credits?
Your generation used credits because the session was in Credits Mode, either because you switched to it or because the model you used doesn't support Unlimited Mode. Check the plan button in the top right of your session to see which mode is active.
Why is the Generate button disabled in Unlimited Mode?
