Archiving a project makes it read-only and moves it out of your active project list without deleting anything. The project stays where it is, project members can still open it and download its contents, and it no longer counts toward your workspace's project limit. You can restore an archived project at any time.
Archiving a Project
To archive a project:
- Select Projects from the left-hand navigation menu.
- Select the project you want to archive.
- Click the options menu (...) in the top right of the project detail page.
- Select Archive.
The project moves to the Archived tab on the Projects page and shows an Archived badge on its card.
What Happens When a Project Is Archived
An archived project is read-only for everyone in the workspace. You can still open it and view or download what's inside, but nothing in it can change:
- Sessions, chats, workflows, cuts and comments inside the project can't be edited
- New sessions, workflows and assets can't be created in the project or moved into it
- Content can't be moved out of the project or deleted
Archived projects also don't appear as a destination when sharing or moving content, so they stay out of project pickers and drag-and-drop targets.
Restoring an Archived Project
To bring an archived project back to your active list:
- Select Projects from the left-hand navigation menu.
- Select the Archived tab and open the project you want to restore.
- Click the options menu (...) in the top right of the project detail page.
- Select Restore.
The project returns to your active list with everything intact and can be edited again.
FAQ
What's the difference between archiving and deleting a project?
Deleting a project removes it and its contents. Archiving freezes it: everything is preserved and stays viewable and downloadable, it just can't be changed until you restore it. Archive when you want completed work kept on record without taking up a project slot. See Creating a Project for deletion steps.
Can I unarchive a project?
Yes. Restoring an archived project makes it active and editable again. Follow the steps in Restoring an Archived Project.
Can project members still see an archived project?
Yes. Anyone who had access before it was archived can still open it from the Archived tab and download its contents. They can't add, edit or remove anything inside it.
Does an archived project count toward my project limit?
A project stops counting toward the limit as soon as it's archived. Restoring it counts it again.
