Once an ad account is connected, Runway Ads shows how your campaigns are doing against the goal you chose, and lets you ask Agent about the results in plain language. This article covers the dashboard, the campaign list, keeping data up to date and asking Agent about performance.
Where to see your performance
Performance lives in two places in the Runway Ads sidebar.
- Dashboard — a summary across your connected accounts, built around your goal
- Campaigns — a list of every campaign, ad group and ad, with sorting and filters
Everyone in the workspace can view the dashboard, whatever their role.
How the dashboard follows your goal
The goal you chose during setup decides what the dashboard puts first.
- Main metric — the result that matches your goal, such as purchases, subscriptions, leads or app installs, and what each one costs you on average
- Cost chart — cost per result over time, with the cost target you set in Business info drawn on the chart
- Channel breakdown — spend and results by platform, with a link to each platform's campaigns
Use the platform filter at the top to look at one platform at a time. To change your goal or cost target, open Settings, then Business info. See Setting up Runway Ads.
Choosing what counts as a result
Runway Ads counts a result using the conversion events you choose, so the numbers line up with how you measure success in your ad platform.
- Open Settings, then Business info
- Open the metrics dropdown, which shows Default metrics until you change it
- Choose the conversion events from your platforms that should count as a result
This matters if you optimize on a custom event, for example a subscribe event you set up yourself. Runway Ads can only show events it has synced from your accounts.
Looking at individual campaigns and ads
The Campaigns view is where you go from the big picture to a single ad.
- Sort or filter the list to find a campaign, then open it to see its ad groups and ads
- Select an ad to open it. You will see the creative, its copy, how it performs compared with your account average and a link to the ad on its platform
- From an ad, you can send it to Agent as the starting point for new variations
Keeping your data up to date
Runway Ads syncs results from your connected accounts once a day, and you can refresh them yourself in between.
- On the Campaigns page, select the sync button for a platform. It reads Sync [platform] data, and Syncing… while a sync runs
- If an account is connected but turned off, the button reads Enable and sync [platform] data
- When you first connect an account, Runway Ads brings in the last 30 days of results
Asking Agent about your results
Agent can read the same synced data the dashboard shows, so you can ask questions instead of reading charts.
- Open a new chat in Runway Ads
- Ask a question about your performance, for example "What is my best performing ad and why?" or "How did the spring campaign do last week?"
Agent answers from your synced results and can link to the ads it refers to. From there you can ask it to make variations of a top performer.
FAQ
Why don't my numbers match what I see in my ad platform?
The most common reason is the result metric. Runway Ads counts the conversion events you chose in Business info, which may differ from the column you look at in your ad platform. Check that setting first, then run a sync; data refreshes once a day otherwise. Runway Ads also starts with the last 30 days, so compare against the same date range.
Why does the dashboard say to select an ad account?
There is no ad account turned on. Open Settings, then Connected accounts, and connect an account or turn one on.
Can I see results for ads I made in Runway Ads?
Once an ad made in Runway Ads is running in your ad account, its results come in with the next sync like any other ad.
Can Viewers see ad spend?
Yes. Viewers can open the dashboard, which includes spend by platform.
