Every ad Agent creates goes to the Review page before anyone uses it, so an Admin can check it, ask for changes or approve it. This article covers how review works, what each decision does and how to get approved creative out to your ad platforms.
Who can review ads
Admins approve or decline creative. Editors can create ads and see their status on the Review page, but the approve and decline controls are for Admins.
Where to find ads waiting for review
New creative lands on the Review page as soon as Agent finishes generating it.
- In Runway Ads, select Review in the sidebar
- Use the status filters at the top to see what needs a decision, what is approved and what has been declined
Ads are grouped by concept, so the variations and sizes of one idea sit together as a set. You can also get here from the chat: the card Agent shows when a batch is done links to the Review page.
Reviewing a set of ads
Open a concept to look at each variation at full size and make a decision.
- Select a concept card on the Review page
- Step through each variation. Video ads have mute and volume controls
- For each variation, approve it, decline it or flag it with a note about what to change
- To request a change for the whole set, leave one change request on the concept instead of flagging each variation
You can change your mind. A decision can be revoked while the creative is still on the Review page.
Asking Agent to fix something
When a variation is close but not right, send it back to Agent instead of starting over.
- Open the variation on the Review page
- Select Edit with Agent
- Describe the change in the chat that opens, such as a new headline or a different crop
The new version returns to the Review page as part of the same concept.
Why you can't approve yet
A concept can only be approved once every size the platform needs exists.
If the approve control is unavailable, the set is missing a size, for example a vertical version for stories. Open the chat the concept came from and ask Agent to create the remaining sizes. Once they are generated, the concept can be approved.
Getting approved ads to your ad platform
Today you download approved creative and upload it to your ad platform yourself.
- On the Review page, filter to approved creative
- Select one or more variations
- Download them. Selecting several downloads a zip with every size
- Upload the files in your ad platform as you normally would
Publishing directly from Runway Ads to your connected ad accounts is coming soon. When it ships, this article will be updated.
FAQ
Does every ad have to be reviewed?
Yes. All creative Agent generates in Runway Ads goes to the Review page. There is no way to skip the review step.
Can I approve ads if I'm an Editor?
No. Approving and declining creative is for Admins. Editors can see the status of their ads on the Review page.
Can I see how an approved ad performed once it ran?
Yes. Once the ad is running in a connected account, its live results appear with the variation after the next sync.
Why was my ad blocked before it reached review?
Runway's content moderation applies in Runway Ads the same way it does elsewhere in Runway. If a generation is blocked, see Why is my input getting content moderated?
