Introduction to Workspaces

Workspaces are an organization structure within Runway that live under your main, personal account. Separate workspaces are useful when work needs to stay apart: a client engagement, a department or a side venture, each with its own members, assets and credits.

On Standard, Pro, Max and Team plans, that separation extends to billing, since every workspace carries its own plan. For that reason, a single workspace serves most individual creators well, and a second one is worth adding only when the work genuinely needs to stand on its own.

Workspaces and your plan

On Standard, Pro, Max and Team plans, each workspace is billed separately. A second workspace needs its own plan, its own seats and its own credits, and nothing carries over from your first workspace.

Enterprise works differently: every workspace sits under a single organization, and the organization's plan covers all of them.

Plan type How workspaces are billed
Standard, Pro and Max One plan per workspace. Each workspace you add needs its own subscription.
Team One plan per workspace, charged per generating member. Each workspace you add needs its own subscription.
Enterprise One organization plan covers every workspace in your organization.

Creating a workspace

To create a new workspace:

  1. Click on the user icon in the bottom left corner
  2. Select Switch Workspace
  3. Select Create a new Workspace

If you're on Standard, Pro, Max or Team, you'll be prompted to select a plan for the new workspace before you start creating.

Your personal account can also serve as a workspace, so you can add members to it instead of creating a second one.

Adding members to your workspace

The Team and Enterprise plans bring additional collaboration features to workspaces through member seats, which work differently depending on plan type:

Team plan fees are charged per member with Editor or Admin roles. These two roles can generate and count towards your Team plan's seat usage. Viewer roles do not count towards seat usage.

To add a member to your Workspace:

  1. Click on the user icon in the bottom left corner
  2. Click Invite members and complete the remaining steps

If on a Team plan, inviting Editor or Admin members will first attempt to charge the card on file for the new additions. Failures at this phase may indicate a billing issue. See Getting Help with your Runway Account if you need support.

Workspace credits and assets

All members in a workspace share one pool of credits. Each member’s generations will not impact the speed of other members’ generations, granting everyone continuous and prompt access to video generation, among other tools.

Completed generations are saved in the creator's private assets or shared Project space, but can be easily moved to the workspace’s shared assets, allowing seamless access for all members.

Managing Workspace Settings

To access and edit your workspace’s settings:

  1. Click on the user icon in the bottom left corner
  2. Select Workspace Settings from the dropdown menu

See Workspace settings for a comprehensive guide on managing your workspace.

Workspace Membership and Access Levels

The access level of each workspace member is determined by the workspace’s admin. For detailed information on membership tiers and their associated access rights, see Workspace members & roles.
