Introduction
Mockup places your design onto real-world surfaces and screens — phones, laptops, billboards, apparel, public spaces, and more. Upload your design, then describe where you want it placed or select a preset to generate a polished, in-context mockup.
It's built for designers, brand teams, marketers, or anyone who needs to visualize how a design looks in the real world without manual compositing. Each generation produces 4 mockup variations.
Prerequisites
Before using Mockup, you'll need:
- A design image — a graphic, illustration, logo, or artwork you want to place in context
This app requires credits to run and does not support infinite generations in Explore Mode.
Step 1 — Accessing Mockup
Mockup lives in the Apps section of Runway. You can get there two ways:
- Navigate to Apps in the left sidebar, then search to find Mockup
- Navigate to Apps in the left sidebar, select the Image category, and locate Mockup
Select the app to open it.
Step 2 — Adding the inputs
Mockup has one required image input, a required text prompt, and an optional preset selection.
Design Image (Required)
Upload the design you want to mockup using the Select button, drag and drop it into the upload area, or select Brand to pull from your Brand Kit assets if configured on an Enterprise account.
Text prompt (Required)
Describe the surface or context you want your design placed in. Mockup is purpose-built for this use case, so a brief description is enough. Examples: place the design on a billboard, show it on a tote bag in a market.
Presets (Optional)
Select a preset for a ready-made placement in one click. Available presets include: Coffee Table Phone, Office Laptop, Floating Laptop, Conference Room, Subway Phone, Mosaic Mural, Subway, Sweatshirt, and Window Poster.
Step 3 — Generating with Mockup
Before generating, confirm:
- Your design image has been uploaded
- A text prompt and optional preset have been applied to direct the placement
- You've selected the desired output aspect ratio
- You've selected the desired output quantity (either 1 or 4 images)
Once everything looks good, select Generate. Mockup runs on Nano Banana Pro or Nano Banana, which can be selected the bottom left-hand model selector.
Example outputs
| Design Image | Placement Direction | Output |
|---|---|---|
| Preset: Mosaic Mural | ||
| Prompt: street setting, natural light |
