Ad Localization takes a single ad image and a target language, then outputs a market-ready version with all visible text translated and visually integrated. It's built for marketers and creative teams adapting campaigns across regions without rebuilding assets from scratch.
This tutorial covers how to find Ad Localization and generate your first localized ad.

Step 1 – Opening the app
You can launch Ad Localization in a few ways depending on where you are in Runway:
- Go directly to the Ad Localization app.
- From the left sidebar, click Apps, switch to the Image tab, and select Ad Localization.
- Use the Apps search bar and type
localization.
Step 2 – Uploading your ad image
Once the app is open, you'll see the input panel on the left side of the workspace.
- Under Ad Image, click the upload area.
- Select the image you want to localize. This can be a static ad, poster, social campaign asset, or any image containing text.
For best results, use a high-resolution source image with clearly legible text. Cluttered or low-contrast text may not translate cleanly.
Step 3 – Choosing a target language
Below the image input, you'll find the Language selector with a typeable field and a grid of supported languages.
- Either type a language name into the Language field or click one of the language chips below it.
- Confirm your selection is highlighted before continuing.
Step 4 – Generating the localized image
With your image uploaded and a language selected, you're ready to run the app.
- Click Generate at the bottom of the input panel.
- Wait for the output to appear in the canvas on the right.
The result will preserve the layout, composition, and visual style of your original ad while replacing the text with a translated, visually integrated version in your chosen language.
Step 5 – Reviewing and exporting
After generation completes, review the output in the canvas.
- Check that all visible text has been translated and that the layout matches the source.
- If you need a different language or a refined result, adjust your inputs and run Generate again.
- Download the localized image directly from the canvas, or share it from your session.
Translations are generated automatically. For campaigns where copy nuance is critical, have a native speaker review the output before publishing.
Next Steps
You now have a localized version of your ad ready to share with regional teams or publish across markets. From here, you might want to:
- Run the same source image through additional languages to build a full regional set.
- Explore other Runway apps in the Image tab to extend, resize, or restyle your campaign assets.
