Publishing an app in App Studio is how you share it: until then it's a private preview only you can open, and once it's live everyone in your workspace can run it from the App Studio home page. This article covers who can open your app, how to publish it to your workspace and how to find apps your teammates have shared. To build an app first, see Building apps with App Studio.
Who Can Open Your App
An app is in one of two states, and the badge on its card tells you which:
- Private preview — the app hasn't been published. Only you can open it, and it has no link yet
- Everyone in [workspace name] — the app is published. Anyone in your workspace can open it from the App Studio home page or from its link
You choose the audience when you publish and can change it at any time afterward from the ··· menu on the app's card, under Share.
Publishing to Your Workspace
Publishing gives the app a link and makes it visible to your whole workspace in one step.
- Open the app in the builder and select Publish in the top-right corner
- Check the audience row. It reads Everyone in [workspace name], which is who the link will work for once the app is live
- Select Publish to everyone in [workspace name]
Publishing continues in the background. When it finishes, the app appears under Apps on the App Studio home page for everyone in the workspace, with the Everyone in [workspace name] badge on its card. Any changes you make afterward stay private until you select Publish again.
Opening an App Someone Shared With You
Apps published to your workspace appear under Apps on the App Studio home page, each with the name of the person who built it and its audience badge.
- All — every app you can open, yours and your team members
- Mine — only the apps you built
Use the search icon to find an app by name, or the Latest menu to change the sort. If a teammate's app is close to what you need, you can remix it into your own version from the ··· menu on its card; see Building apps with App Studio.
FAQ
Can people outside my workspace open my app?
Currently, publishing makes an app available to everyone in your workspace, and the link works for people in the workspace.
If I keep working on a published app, do my teammates see the changes right away?
No. Changes you make in the builder stay in your preview until you select Publish again, which rolls them out to everyone who can open the app.
Can I make a copy of an app a teammate shared?
Yes. Remixing starts a new app from a copy of theirs, and publishing your remix creates a separate app. The original isn't changed.
