Introduction
Credits are used in Runway to generate images, videos, and audio. This guide covers some of the most frequently asked questions about credits.
How many credits come with my plan?
A one-time deposit of 125 credits is included with the Free plan and does not expire. A monthly credit allotment is included with Standard, Pro, and Unlimited plans every month. These amounts do not roll over to following months, and are reset within 24 hours of your billing date.
Credits are added to your account within a few minutes of payment processing. If you don't see them immediately, please allow up to a few hours for the system to update. You can check your credit balance at any time by visiting your Plans & Billing page.
Monthly credit amounts are as follows:
| Plan | Standard | Pro | Unlimited | Enterprise |
| Monthly credits | 625 | 2250 | 2250 | Please see here |
What are my credits worth?
This table outlines the credit costs associated with each tool. Please note that these are rates and do not indicate the total cost of a single generation in some cases.
For example, Gen-4 uses 12 credits per second of generated video. This means your total cost per generation would be either 60 or 120 credits, depending on if you chose a 5 or 10 second duration.

How do I get more credits?
To purchase additional credits, users on Standard, Pro, and Unlimited plans may do so by heading to the Plans & Billing page in their dashboard. The minimum amount of credits users may purchase is 1000. Credit purchases are not available to Free plan users.
For Enterprise customers, please see the Enterprise Credits FAQ.
Do credits expire?
Monthly plan credits expire on your billing date. Purchased credits do not expire. Initial one-time credits on Free plans do not expire.
How do I know what my billing date is?
Your billing date is the day of the month on which you first initiated your plan. For monthly subscribers, this is also the day that you will receive your monthly subscription charge. For annual subscribers, the billing date is the same date each month (e.g. the 20th of each month), based on when you first initiated your plan.
You can find the billing date by clicking the user icon in the top right corner, selecting Manage your plan, and scrolling down to the section titled Invoices. The date of the month associated with your last invoice is your billing date.
If I'm on a workspace with multiple users, how are credits used across the workspace?
One set of plan credits is shared by editors in your workspace, rather than being provided as an additional set per editor. If you are initiating a new subscription primarily for the associated credits, we suggest setting that account up independently rather than as a collaborator on an existing workspace.
You can learn more about workspaces here.
Why can't I use credits for the API?
Credits or plans purchased on the web app (https://app.runwayml.com) are completely separate from credits purchased via the API (https://www.runwayml.com/api).
Web app credits will never appear in your API credits, and vice versa. For more information on the Runway API, see here.
