Introduction
On June 1st we rolled out the Max plan, a new plan for power users on Runway.
For many of our heaviest users — especially the ones shipping client work or producing on a deadline — speed is of the utmost importance. The Max plan ensures that users get the speed they need with predictable pricing.
This article covers what to expect if you have an Unlimited plan and answers questions about the transition.
Why we’re moving to a credit-based model
With the addition of the Max plan, we are phasing out the Unlimited plan.
While Unlimited provided a great way to explore different creative paths, its relaxed speeds often led to queuing. In order to offer the fastest possible generation times for all our plans, we’re moving to a clearer credit-based structure. We’ve designed Max with a monthly credit allowance and the ability to roll over a month of unused credits so users have more flexibility in how they plan their work while getting the speed they need.
What happens to existing Unlimited subscribers?
If you're currently on Unlimited, nothing changes for the next 90 days. Your plan stays exactly as it is through August 31, 2026. We've emailed every Unlimited subscriber directly with the full details and a walkthrough of their options, and will also send reminder emails as that date approaches.
On September 1, Unlimited subscribers move to Max. Monthly subscribers move automatically at the same $95/month price. Annual subscribers will have the choice to move to Max or take a refund for the remaining months of your annual term, whichever you prefer.
Monthly plans
On September 1, your Unlimited plan will automatically switch to the Max plan at the same monthly price, or you can choose to cancel your plan.
Annual plans
In August, you can either cancel for a refund of your remaining months of your annual Unlimited plan, or accept a credits bonus to migrate to the max plan.
FAQs
Is the Max plan the same as the Unlimited plan?
These plans are different, and the Max plan is replacing Unlimited. Max offers 9,500 monthly credits for faster, high-volume generation — plus the ability to roll over a month of unused credits. Unlimited offered 2,250 credits plus Explore Mode for unlimited generations at a relaxed rate. For a full breakdown of what's included on Max, see our Max plan details article.
Does the Max plan include Explore Mode?
While Explore Mode won't be available on the Max plan, you'll have access to 9,500 monthly credits — 4x what you get on Unlimited. Unlike Explore Mode, credits generate on-demand with no wait times or limits on how many videos or images you can create at once.
Can I cancel my annual Unlimited plan early and get a refund now?
The refund option is only available in August ahead of the deprecation date. If you want to cancel before then, see our refund policy.
