Agent Skills are guided workflows for common creative tasks, from building a full ad campaign to resizing a single image. Trigger a skill by typing / in the Agent composer, and Agent follows that skill's workflow while you steer the details. You can also create custom skills to teach Agent your own repeatable workflows.

Skills work anywhere you talk to Agent: on the Agent home page or inside an active chat. If you're new to Agent, Creating with Runway Agent covers the basics of prompting and generating.

Available Skills

Agent's skills menu currently includes:

• Ad Campaign — build a campaign, from concept to finished video and image assets for all platforms
• Commercial — produce a commercial with a hook, proof and call to action
• Mood Board — generate a set of images to shape the look of your project
• Motion Graphic — animate text, charts and infographics into a video
• Resize Image — reframe an image to a new aspect ratio
• Social Thumbnail — design an engaging social thumbnail with a headline and subtext
• UGC Video — create an influencer video where a person talks to the camera in a casual, user-generated-content style
• Workflow — create, edit and run node-based Workflows
• New Skill — create and teach Agent a task so you can reuse it in future chats (see Creating a Custom Skill)

Using a Skill

1. Navigate to Agent
2. Type / in the composer, then select a skill by name. The skill appears inline in your message
3. Add any details you'd like alongside the skill, then send your message

You can also open the full skills menu by selecting the skills icon next to the + in the composer, or start from a suggested skill in the chips below the composer on the Agent home page.

A skill and a regular prompt can share the same message. For example, typing / and selecting Motion Graphic, then adding "let's plan one for my YouTube channel" starts the Motion Graphic workflow with your goal already in context. Once sent, the chat labels your message with the skill that was triggered, so you always know which workflow Agent is following.

How Skills Guide a Session

Each skill breaks its task into steps and checks in with you along the way. Some skills begin with exploration before producing final assets. Ad Campaign, for example, starts by generating a mood board of different visual directions. Pick the direction you like, or ask for another round, and Agent then generates the campaign's individual assets in that style.

Skills are starting points, not scripts. You can redirect Agent, change formats or ask for variations at any step, the same way you would in any Agent conversation.

Creating a Custom Skill

You can also teach Agent your own repeatable workflows. A custom skill saves a set of instructions Agent can follow anytime, and works just like a Runway-authored skill once created.

1. Open the skills menu from the composer
2. Under New Skill, select Write it myself to fill in the skill yourself, or Create with Agent to have Agent help draft it [CONFIRM: which button opens the Create Skill dialog]
3. Give your skill a Name and a short Description
4. Add Instructions describing the workflow Agent should follow, up to 5,000 characters
5. Under Sharing, choose Private to keep the skill to yourself or Share with workspace to make it available to everyone in your workspace
6. Select Create

Clear, specific instructions work best. Describe the steps in order, name the output you expect and include any style guidance Agent should apply every time. Once created, trigger your skill the same way as any other: type / and select it by name.
