Brand Kits let admins and editors build reusable collections of reference images and videos that define a visual identity. Whether you're maintaining consistency across marketing campaigns or collaborating with teams on branded content, Brand Kits keep your essential visual references organized in one place.

Each Brand Kit focuses on a single brand or project, making it easy to find and apply the right references when generating new content. You can build up your kit over time by uploading reference materials, then reuse those assets across on demand without searching through scattered files.

This article guides admins through creating, sharing and generating with assets in a Brand Kit.

Step 1 — Building your first Brand Kit

Need help building your Brand Kit? You can also ask Runway Agent to help you create or edit a Brand Kit for you from within a chat.

Brand Kits are created on the Brand page. Select Create your first Kit and enter a name for your project or campaign to open the Kit editing page.

This page is where you will add different sections and assets within those sections. Sections are fully customizable, meaning you can use a structure that works best for your specific project or use case.

Below are some examples of Brand Kit sections you might consider building for a company brand, product marketing or storytelling:

Company brand Product marketing Storytelling
  • Logos
  • Colors
  • Fonts
  • Backgrounds
  • Product photos
  • Logos
  • Colors
  • Backgrounds
  • Characters
  • Characters
  • Props
  • Wardrobe
  • Locations
  • Colors

You can drag and drop groups of selected assets from your local machine to upload in bulk.

Brand Kit sections accept font files in .ttf and .otf formats, by drag and drop, through the file picker or with Add assets. Each font shows a preview of the typeface wherever it appears.

Section descriptions

Each section includes an optional description field that helps guide how its assets should be used. In Agent, most Apps and Tool mode using Nano Banana, a Brand Kit section description is added to the prompt automatically, giving the model context about how to apply those references. In Workflows, and with other models in Tool mode, only the assets are used.

While descriptions are optional, we recommend adding them to ensure consistency when generating content with your Brand Kit. Clear descriptions reduce the amount of prompting and iteration needed to achieve on-brand results.

Where section descriptions apply

Brand Kit section descriptions are applied in Agent, in most Apps and in Tool mode with Nano Banana; Workflows and other models receive the assets only.

  • Agent — Brand Kit section descriptions are applied to every generation in the session
  • Apps — most Apps apply section descriptions; Generate Video and Edit Video use the assets only
  • Tool mode — section descriptions are applied when generating images with Nano Banana; other image and video models use the assets only
  • Workflows — section descriptions are not applied. Adding a Brand Kit asset to the canvas creates an Image node that holds only the asset, the same as an uploaded file. To apply the guidance, add it to the Text node linked to the model node's Prompt input

Step 2 — Creating with your Brand Kit

Once you've added the desired sections and their assets, select Save & Exit in the top-right corner. You can later edit your Brand Kit by selecting Edit in the top-right corner.

You can now use and test your Brand Kit from multiple locations:

  • Brand page — Select Use Kit in the top-right corner and choose a generative mode

Directly in a session — Select the Access Brand Kits icon in Apps and Tool mode to access the assets within a session

  • In Agent — Open the Brand tab below the composer and toggle on your kit to apply it to the whole session

Each of these locations opens the Brand Kit panel where you can select your assets. Select any assets you want to use, write a prompt, then generate.

Step 3 — Sharing your Brand Kit

When you're satisfied with your Brand Kit, you can choose where it can be used: your whole workspace, specific projects, or both.

  1. Open the Brand page
  2. Select Edit in the top-right corner
  3. Select Share in the top-right corner
  4. Toggle on Workspace to share it with everyone, or toggle on specific projects to share it with only the people in those projects
  5. Select Save

When you share a kit into a project, only that project's members can see it, and everything inside the kit inherits the same access.

After sharing, members can follow Step 2 to create with the assets.

Any later changes saved to the Brand Kit automatically update for everyone it's shared with.

Using your Brand Kits

After sharing, a Brand Kit is available across Runway. Apps below means Runway's ready-made Apps catalog; if your sidebar shows App Studio instead of Apps, see Creating with Apps for how to open the catalog.

  • Tools and Apps (image generation) — open the Brand Kit panel from Apps and Tools in a session to quickly reference your kit's assets while you generate, as described in Step 2
  • Projects — kits shared with a Project are available to that Project's members and to every session inside it
  • Agent — use your Brand Kit in a Runway Agent session so your logos, product shots and style references guide each generation, with no re-uploading between sessions

Using Projects, Brand Kits and Agent

Agent can pull directly from any Brand Kit shared to a project, so your generations stay on-brand without rebuilding context each time.

Every Agent session stays visible to its Project. When you invite team members, they can open any of the Project's Agent sessions with the same Brand Kit and assets in place.

This setup works well for teams running recurring branded campaigns, or agencies managing multiple client brands from separate Projects, each with its own kit.

FAQ

Where can I use Brand Kits when generating?

Brand Kits are currently available in:

  • Agent
  • All Apps in Runway's ready-made Apps catalog
  • Tool mode (image generation)
  • Workflows (assets only; section descriptions aren't applied)
How are Brand Kits different from references?

Brand Kits let you organize reference assets by brand, making it easy to find and reuse the right materials for each project.

Unlike individual references, Brand Kits also include section description fields that guide how each set of assets should be used, which reduces repeated prompting in Agent, most Apps and Tool mode with Nano Banana. Workflows uses Brand Kit assets only.

Do Brand Kit section descriptions apply in Workflows?

No. Adding a Brand Kit asset to a workflow creates an Image node that holds only the asset, the same as an uploaded file, so the optional text in the section description (your guidelines or rules for those assets) isn't included in the prompt for any model node. To give the model that guidance in Workflows, write it into the Text node linked to the model node's Prompt input.

Where can I share feedback about Brand Kits?

You can share feedback about Brand Kits on how Runway could improve the experience for you and your team in the Brand Kits feedback form.

Are Brand Kits shared with Runway Ads?

No. Runway Ads keeps its own Brand Kits, separate from the ones your team uses in Runway Creative. If your team runs paid campaigns, build and edit Brand Kits for ads from the Brand Kit page in Runway Ads. See Creating ads with Runway Ads.
