Comments let you leave feedback directly on an image or video in your asset library instead of routing it through chat threads or screen recordings. Pin a comment to an exact spot on an image, or to a specific moment in a video, and tag a teammate to notify them by email. You can also tag Agent to make the change directly from the thread. Comments are currently available on desktop.
Adding a Comment
- Open an asset from your Assets library
- Select the Comments tab in the panel on the right
- Click anywhere on the image or video to pin a comment to that spot, or select the comment field at the bottom of the panel to leave a general comment with no pin
- Type your comment and select the send icon
Pinned comments appear as markers directly on the asset, so anyone reviewing it can see where feedback landed without reading through the full list.
Commenting on a Video
On a video, a comment is stamped to the frame you're watching when you post it. Comments appear as markers on the scrubber, and selecting one jumps playback to that exact moment. This keeps timing-specific feedback, like a cut point that needs another pass, attached to the second it's about.
Tagging a Teammate
Type @ followed by a name to tag a teammate in a comment. You can only tag someone with access to the asset: it needs to be shared with your workspace, or in a project the teammate has access to. Tagging someone without access shows an error instead of posting the comment. The person you tag gets an email notification linking back to Runway.
Tagging Agent
Tag Agent in a comment, the same way you @-mention a teammate, to ask for an edit or a new generation without leaving the asset. Agent works from the asset you're commenting on and posts the result back into the thread, so the request and the change stay together where your team is already reviewing.
- In the Comments tab, type @ and select Agent from the top of the list
- Describe what you want Agent to do, like "replace the tomatoes with a soft-boiled egg"
- Select the send icon
Agent starts as soon as you post, and its progress appears beneath your comment. When it finishes, the reply shows Generation complete with a preview you can view or play right there. The result is also saved as a new asset alongside the original, with the same visibility: if the original is shared with your workspace, teammates can open the result too, and if it's private, only you can.
Can I ask Agent to iterate on its result in the same thread?
Not from the thread. Each tag works from the original asset rather than Agent's earlier results. To build on a result, hover over its preview and select Open in Agent to continue in a full Agent session, or open the new asset and comment there.
Does tagging Agent in a comment use credits?
Yes. Tagging Agent uses credits like any other Agent generation, and Agent starts generating as soon as you post without asking for approval first.
What happens if I tag Agent without asking for anything?
The comment won't post. Agent needs an instruction, so describe what you want it to do alongside the tag.
Can I edit or delete a comment that tags Agent?
Comments that tag Agent can't be edited once posted. You can delete one, but deleting won't stop a run that's already started or refund the credits.
Who can tag Agent in a comment?
Members with the Editor or Admin role. Viewers can follow the thread but won't see Agent as an option when they type @.
Can Agent build a full project or timeline from a comment?
No. Agent in comments is for quick edits and generations on a single asset. For multi-step projects or timelines, start a full Agent session.
Managing Comments
- You can delete your own comments at any time
- Workspace admins can also delete comments other people posted
- Deleting a comment asks for confirmation first
- Comments have a 2,000-character limit
There's currently no way to edit a comment after posting it. Delete it and post a new one instead.
Turning Off Email Notifications
Comment mentions notify by email. You can turn these off from My Account in Runway, or select Manage email preferences in the footer of any notification email.
