This article outlines the basics of navigating the Runway app. When you log into Runway, you'll land on your Home page, a single starting point for everything you can create — whether that's starting an Agent session, opening an App or picking up recent work.

The Home Page

The Home page puts the Agent prompt at the top. Enter an idea to start a new Agent session, type @ to add References or / to use Agent Skills. Shortcuts below the input open popular tools and models directly.

Below the prompt, the Home page is organized into a few sections:

• Presets — curated example prompts organized by category, such as marketing campaigns or movies. Select one to start an Agent session from that prompt. The categories you see first are based on your onboarding answers, so your Home page may look different from a teammate's
• New at Runway — recently released features and models. Select a card to try the feature or get notified when it's available
• Get started with Apps — use-case specific Apps organized by category. See Creating with Apps for more detail

To return to the Home page at any time, select Home at the top of the left navigation bar.

The Left Navigation Bar

The left navigation bar is available throughout the app. For a full view, click the Expand sidebar button.

From top to bottom:

• New Session — Instantly begin a new generative session
• Home — return to your Home page
• Agent — Use for a collaborative, agent assisted creative experience for any project
• Tool —  Use for granular control over your inputs and prompts
• Apps — Best for use-case specific generation methods
• Workflows —  Build scalable and automated creative pipelines to publish as an app or API endpoint
• Recents — View your most recent generations 
• Projects — Organize Sessions, Workflows and Assets in one place
• Assets — View all assets and asset folders 
• Favorited — View all assets you've favorited by clicking the heart icon 

Your credit balance, member invites and support are in the top-right corner.

Generating with Sessions

Sessions are where you create generations, and also serve as an organization structure within Runway. You can think of Sessions as a folder or group of generations you create at a given time. Starting a prompt from the Home page, or selecting Agent, Tool or Workflows from the left navigation bar, opens a generative Session.

Each generative method has its own strengths in your creative process — experienced creators often switch between methods as-needed. As you generate, the interface organizes content chronologically on the right-hand pane, with your latest generations appearing at the bottom, and the oldest at the top. Managing Your Account

Manage your account by selecting your profile icon in the bottom-left corner to reveal a dropdown with more options:

• Plans & Billing — manage your subscription, purchase credits and view credit history
• Invite members — add members to collaborate in your Workspace. See workspace documentation for more details
• Refer a friend — activate a referral code to share with a friend. See How do I use referral codes? for more information
• Upgrade your plan — change to a new plan
• Switch Workspace — change the workspace you're generating

Managing Your Assets

Select the Assets icon at the bottom of the left navigation bar to open your dashboard. This is where you can view, download and manage your completed generations, organize assets into folders and upload your own media. Use the search bar at the top to find tools, assets and projects, or filter your assets by media type and tags.
